Welcome to four bustling days at Göteborg Book Fair!

In 2013, the Book Fair will focus on Romania and the Romanian literature. The event is organized in collaboration with the Romanian Cultural Institute in Stockholm and with publishers and other organizations. Don't hesitate - come and join us on the 26-29th of September 2013!

"We consider this as recognition of both Romania as an exciting literary country and the Romanian Cultural Institute as a strong and trustworthy partner. Our presence at the Book Fair will not only highlight the importance of the Romanian cultural tradition and its place in Europe, but also an acknowledgment of how cultural meetings in the Nordic countries, arranged by the Romanian Cultural Institute, has provided us with a greater focus on our common European heritage", asserts Dan Shafran, Director of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Stockholm.

Long cooperation

Since 2006, the year when the Romanian Cultural Institute was established in Sweden, the Book Fair has been visited by the country's most prominent writers. Herta Müller inaugurated the Book Fair in 2011. Norman Manea, acclaimed author of the novelistic memoir "The Hooligan's Return", visited the Book Fair in 2012.

The Romanian Cultural Institute's literary prize – Sorescu Prize – has been presented at the Book Fair for several years.

"We are delighted to continue and deepen our cooperation with Romania and look forward to contributing to the Romanian literature for its broader dissemination in the Nordic countries", stresses Anna Falck, CEO of the Book Fair.

Göteborg Book Fair 2012

Last year, the fair was a true Nordic cultural manifestation. In
cooperation with the Nordic Council and the Nordic Council of Ministers, as well as different organisations and publishers from the Nordic region, the Book Fair focused on Nordic literature. At the Book Fair, you could meet many many outstanding Nordic writers, like Hanne Vibeke-Holst from Denmark, and Erland Loe, Norway.

We also had numerous international writers from all over the world, for example French Ingrid Betancourt, who was held as prisoner by Farc in Colombia for several years and has written a book about her experiences.

We hope to see you all here in 2013, a big welcome!
